Active Query Builder ASP.NET Edition 2.10 introduces the new Database Schema Tree

We're glad to announce the new version of Active Query Builder ASP.NET Edition. You can evaluate the new version by requesting the trial. Customers can download the new version in the Customer's area.

What's new in the Active Query Builder ASP.NET Edition version 2.10?

  • The new metadata browsing control displaying database schema in a tree-like form is made instead of the old metadata list with drop-downs and pagination. It is compatible with all supported browsers and is used in all samples by default, but you still can use the old one.

To change the old list control to new tree in your projects, just replace the AQB:ObjectTree ASP.NET control with the AQB:ObjectTreeView control.

Note: The new tree view control is not compatible with legacy CSS for IE 8 and 9, so those who use legacy CSS can't use the new control.

  • It's no longer needed to link the Bootstrap CSS to your web page. Although the component is still compatible with Bootstrap framework.
  • Tooltip with full object name and description is now displayed in the Database Schema Tree.
  • Datasources in Design Area now keep their positions after toggling the component's visibility.
  • JavaScript API is improved. Addition of Datasources and Query Column List items on the client is possible now. See details in the JavaScript API Reference.
  • The Query Columns Grid is significantly optimized. The maximum performance gain is achieved for the Internet Explorer while working with heavy queries.
  • The "Add linked objects" menu selects objects if they are already present on Design pane instead of duplicating them.
  • The new JavaScript method QB.Web.Application.resetLayout() is added to restore the component's layout if it was created invisible on the page.
  • The new event QB.Web.ApplicationEvents.SQLTextChanged is added. It is fired when the user changes query text so the Refresh button appears.
  • Criteria Builder: Bit field editor is changed from text to dropdown.
  • Metadata Structure demo project is added (C# and VB).
  • Compatibility with Internet Explorer 10 is restored.
  • Other minor bug fixes and improvements are made.

Testimonials

We have been using Active Query Builder for over a year and must say that both the product and support have been outstanding!

We chose Active Query Builder due to its flexibility and features, but have been truly pleased by its power and hidden capabilities. ...

In summary Active Query Builder provides excellent components, great support and a very flexible feature set. It has allowed us to provide features to our end users that I did not think would be possible in the first release of our new tools and in a timeframe that was much shorter than planned. I would recommend that anyone dealing with databases in the .Net world should be aware of this component and its capabilities!
